Chinese Boy Name Generator
Enter a surname and the birth date and time, with the gender fixed to boy, for candidate Chinese names for a boy drawn by useful elements and scored on the five grids.
What is Chinese Boy Name Generator and what is it used for?
This page produces candidate Chinese names for a boy. Enter the surname (a compound surname in full), the birth year, month, day, hour and minute, and the full name length; the birth city is optional. The gender is fixed to boy here, so the form does not ask for it. The top of the result is the naming profile for that birth moment: the surname counted by Kangxi strokes, the four pillars, and the useful and adverse elements. Below it the name candidates are listed from the highest score down, twenty at a time, with Load more for the next twenty.
The characters are not drawn at random. The four pillars are cast from the birth time, the useful elements are picked from them, and a character pool is then filtered from the Kangxi library by those elements: characters marked only for girls are left out of a boy pool, while those marked for boys or for either are kept. Each grid is a sum of Kangxi stroke counts, and every grid number is looked up in the 81-number table; names whose Person and Total grids are both poor are left out of the list.
The pillars, the five grids, the three talents and the four weights are the same code the general Chinese Name Generator runs, so one birth moment is measured the same way on both pages. What differs is that one filter over the pool, which is why the two lists offer different characters while the stroke counts and scores stay comparable.
The ranking uses the same four weights as the Chinese Name Score tool: how far the name characters match the useful elements counts 0.4, the grid numbers count 0.3 (Person, Earth and Total carry more weight than Heaven and Outer), the three talents count 0.2 and the tones count 0.1. The three talents read the last digits of Heaven, Person and Earth as one combination and mark it auspicious only inside the traditional 35 combinations. On tones, distinct readings score highest, a heavy share of the fourth tone is deducted, and a fourth tone on the last character is deducted again. Each candidate comes with its reading, the stroke count of every character, and its five grids.
The score reports where a name stands in this set of traditional number rules. It does not judge whether the meaning reads strong enough, whether a name is easy to write, whether it sounds like something else, or whether it fits a generation character in the family, and it carries no personal life phases; those calls belong to people. Rare characters absent from the Kangxi library never enter the pool, so they cannot appear in the list.
FAQ
What is different from the general name generator?
One thing only: the pool is filtered by gender. Characters marked only for girls are removed here, while those marked for boys or for either stay. The pillars, the five grids, the three talents and the four weights run the same code, so one birth moment is measured the same way on both pages.
Does a boy name have to use forceful characters?
The ordering looks at element fit, grid numbers, the three-talent combination and tones. What a character reads like is not one of those four, and both marked and neutral characters appear. Temperament is a human call; the page gives an ordering plus the reading and stroke count of every character.
Can this page be switched to girls?
It cannot. The gender here is fixed to boy and the form has no gender control. The Chinese Girl Name Generator page covers that case, and both can be run on the same birth data as two separate records.
How is a compound surname entered?
Both characters go in the Surname box. The length option counts the whole name (2 characters, 3, up to 3, 4, or up to 4), so a two-character surname already uses two of them and fewer options remain. If every combination at a length is cut by the grid rules, that length yields nothing.
What if the birth hour is uncertain?
Year, month, day, hour and minute are all required, and there is no option for an unknown hour. The hour and minute set the hour pillar, the hour pillar feeds how the useful elements are picked, and the elements choose the pool, so a wrong hour gives a different list. The true-solar-time correction applies only when a birth city is entered.
